Short answer: no. Nano Banana 2 is Google's image generation and editing model. It creates and edits still images; it does not output video. To get a video, you generate (or edit) an image with Nano Banana 2, then animate it with an image-to-video model such as Veo 3.1, Kling, Seedance or Wan. On Banana AI you can do both steps in one place.
What Nano Banana 2 is (and isn't)
| Confirmed by Google | |
|---|---|
| Official name | Nano Banana 2 = Gemini 3.1 Flash Image |
| Announced | February 26, 2026 (Google blog) |
| What it does | Image generation and image editing, including better text rendering in images |
| Output sizes | 512px, 1K, 2K and 4K, with extra-wide and extra-tall aspect ratios |
| Latest version | Nano Banana 2.1, released October 6, 2026 as an update to Nano Banana 2; the older Nano Banana 2 model ID is now deprecated (Gemini API changelog) |
| Video generation | Not mentioned in Google's Nano Banana 2 announcement |
Google's video models are a separate family (Veo). That is why "Nano Banana 2 video" workflows always pair two models: one for the picture, one for the motion.
How to turn a Nano Banana 2 image into a video
- Create the still. Open the AI image generator and choose Nano Banana 2.1 in the model list. Write a prompt, or upload a photo and describe the edit.
- Pick the frame you want to animate. Image-to-video models keep the subject, layout and colors of your starting frame, so fix details in the image first. It is far cheaper to regenerate an image than a video.
- Animate it. Open the AI video generator, upload the image, choose an image-to-video model, and describe the motion (camera move, action, mood).
- Need a longer or multi-shot clip? Use Kling 4.0: it accepts several stills as keyframes (up to 10) and runs up to 30 seconds, so you can make each keyframe with Nano Banana 2.1 and let Kling animate between them.

What the whole workflow costs
Nano Banana 2.1 costs 4 credits at 1K, 6 at 2K and 9 at 4K per image on Banana AI. A typical first test:
- 1 image with Nano Banana 2.1 at 2K: 6 credits
- 1 clip with Veo 3.1 Lite: 15 credits
- Total: 21 credits, about $0.70–$1.72 depending on the credit pack ($99.9 for 3,000 credits down to $4.9 for 60 credits).
If a generation fails, its credits are automatically returned to your balance. See pricing for plans and packs.
Tips for better results
- Leave room for motion. If the subject will walk, turn or the camera will pan, compose the still with space in that direction.
- Keep text and logos in the image step. Nano Banana 2 renders text well; video models can blur fine text, so short, large text survives animation best.
- Describe motion, not the scene. The image already defines the scene. In the video prompt, spend your words on what moves and how the camera behaves.
- Match the aspect ratio. Generate the still in the aspect ratio you want for the final video (for example 9:16 for Reels and Shorts) so nothing gets cropped.
